Fawcett's Son Pleads with Judge

Farrah Fawcett's son with Ryan O'Neal, Redmond O'Neal, 24, appeared in a Los Angeles court Friday, wearing a brown jail jumpsuit and was shackled in chains. He cited his mother's life-or-death battle with cancer as a reason to get clean and kick his drug habit. He told the judge that he wants to be there for his mother, noting that Fawcett is down to 86 pounds due to her battle with colon cancer. Redmond was in court for sentencing for violating probation on a 2008 DUI and drug possession conviction. Superior Court Judge Scott Millington offered him another chance to enter a drug program following a hearing April 30. Although I feel badly for Redmond, I believe that he is receiving the star treatment from the judge, who is allowing him to seek further treatment. I wonder if an average individual would be given the same privileges. I also feel that since Redmond was born into the Hollywood world, I think it will be extremely hard for him to quit his habit. Stars have extremey easy access to drugs and have the financial resounces to pay for them. I hope Redmond can stay clean for his mother but I will not be surprised if he's back in the news soon.

Klum Clan

Heidi Klum and husband Seal are expecting their fourth child! I could not be more excited for the couple. Klum is already mom to Leni, 4 (with Italian businessman Flavio Briatore), Henry Gunter, 3, and Johan Riley, 2. The baby is due this fall. I am a big fan of Heidi Klum's and watch her show, Project Runway, on a regular basis. I was so happy for her when she met Seal and even more excited when I found out she was pregnant with their first child together, Henry. Klum has spoken out about her interacial marriage with Seal, commenting that "I'm not white, I'm a shade of brown," and added, "we're all different shades and we came together and we all love each other...it's actually kind of nice to have a 'patchwork family.'" I am very happy for both Seal and Klum and even more excited to see the next season of Project Runway. Klum has definetly made a name for herself, not only because of her good looks, but because she is an inspiration to many young girls out there. I also really like her fashion sense!

OctoWHAT!?!

Octuplet mother Nadya Suleman is seeking to trademark her media nickname, "Octomom" for a line of baby goods. Apparently Suleman filed two applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to officially - and exclusively - own the nickname. I am pretty sure someone else came up with the name, so shouldn't they get full rights? She has plans to use the name on disposable diapers, dresses, pants, and shirts. If I were a mother, the last thing I would be buying would be something that would profit octomom. She also wants to use the nickname for what she hopes to be her reality tv show. I think America has had enough of families earning fame by opening up their lives to show the public how different their family is. We all know about the Duggars and who can forget Jon and Kate plus 8? Now "Octomom" wants her own series? What I want to know is who is actually interested in learning about her life and how she is planning to take care of these poor innocent children? What I find even more outrageous is that Suleman, who is still unemployed and is considering applying for food stamps to feed her children, still managed to pay $825 dollars for the trademark application. She sure does have her priorities straight. I can only imagine that these poor children will be in the spotlight for at least the first 5 years of their life. Unfortunately, it seems like they have a crazy mother who is willing to make a profit off of them. That's a great mother, isn't it? There were rumors that she is trying to be like Angelina Jolie, who has a growing brood herself. By "Octomom" needs to realize that Jolie has millions and millions of dollars she can spend on her children to keep them safe and healthy. Suleman's finances are scare and I am sure she is depending on the American people to bail her out. As someone mentioned in class, on one of her websites, there is a link that you can click on to donate to Nadya and her family. I do feel bad for her children. No one deserves to be brought into the world where everyone is against you. But I do not agree with what Nadya Suleman did and I will be extremely angry if this woman ends up on television, simply because she had eight children and needs the money. As John Stossel on 20/20 would say, "Give me a break!"

Granny Duggars

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are the proud parents of 18 children (and counting). With eight girls and ten boys, the Duggars have yet another surprise. Their oldest son, Joshua (21), who was recently married in September, is expecting his first child with wife Anna. One can only imagine that Joshua will follow in his parent's footsteps. While Anna is only three months pregnant, Joshua admits that they are planning on picking a name theme like their parents did for them. (All of the Duggar children have a name that begins with the letter "J".) The Duggars are conservative Baptists that endorse the Quiverfull movement. While dating is not forbidden, the parents prefer that their children go through a courtship, which requires the young man to seek permission from the girl's father to begin the relationship. What I found very surprising and a little strange was that all meetings between the engaged couple must include a chaperone, since they do not believe in any type of intimacy or affection, (including kissing) up until marriage. While everyone is allowed to have their own beliefs, I think this may be a little ridiculous. Abstaining from sex before marriage is one thing. But not allowing the engaged couple to even kiss before they are married? Or for that matter meet in private without a chaperone before they are married? How are they supposed to really get to know the person they are going to committ themselves to for the rest of their life with someone watching over them all the time? I wonder if the Duggars are allowed to hug or if that is forbidden as well. I also wonder how the kids feel with their parents having children all the time. I mean, it is always exciting when you learn that a close family member is expecting a child. But 18 times? Joshua is going to be a father come October, which makes his youngest sibling, 3 month old Jordyn, an Aunt. I wouldn't be surprised if Michelle has a couple more kids. I think 20 sounds like a good, rounded number. This would mean that Joshua's baby would be older than his uncles or aunts. Although there are many complaints surfacing about "OctoMom" I do have to say that the Duggars seem to be in control of their finances and the kids do seem very happy. This could just be on television however. I'm sure there must be one kid in there that is dying to escape Arkansas and the strange, growing family that he was born into. I think it is time for the Duggars to stop having kids and enjoy the 18 kids they have.

Death for a Power Ranger

Looks like there is no hero saving this 29 year old, former Power Ranger. With all the hoopla surrounding Captain Phillips, who was recently rescued from Somali pirates, we cannot forget about our very own childhood hero causing terror on the seas. Skylar Deleon was sentenced to death after being charged with murdering an Arizona couple in 2004. Deleon gained entry to the couple's yacht with his wife at the time, Jennifer Henderson, by feigning interest in buying the yacht. Deleon apparently tied the couple to the yacht's anchor and threw the couple, Tom and Jackie Hawks, overboard. If that wasn't enough, Deleon was also convicted of killing a man he met through a work furlough program in 2003. His attorneys claimed that Deleon was predisposed to violence because he was raised by a drug dealer father and his mother abandoned him. What I want to know, is how Deleon became a Power Ranger. Obviously Deleon has many issues and maybe his superhero activity on the show helped him take care of these issues. Yet, Deleon is far from a might morphin Power Ranger.

A Kardashian Gets Cut...

For all those followers of "Keeping up with the Kardashians" on the E! network, big changes are coming to the reality series according to the main person on the show, Kim Kardashian. According to Kim, one of her family members will be receiving plastic surgery and their surgery will be revealed on the show. As hard as it is for me to admit this, I am a fan of the show, only because I enjoy watching how stupid and downright rude some of these Kardashians can be. The way the girls treat their mother is absolutely atrocious and yet I am hooked. As an avid watcher, I can't really imagine who would be getting plastic surgery. They are all very good looking individuals. Kim most certainly will not and Khourtney is probably too petite to endure any type of medical procedure. Kris, the mother, is still pretty attractive and from the looks of her, it seems like she has already had her fair share under the knife. We all know her husband, the famous triathlete Bruce Jenner has had a little too much plastic surgery. His once good looking features now resemble that of a plastic doll. This leads to me to determine that the youngest Kardashian sister, Khloe, will most likely be the next victim of plastic surgery. At 5'9, Khloe does not look anything like her two older curvy sisters. In fact, she seems to be a bit overweight. Her own stepfather commented that Khloe should "lose a few pounds" before modeling nude for a PETA ad. Perhaps Khloe is sick of the criticism she is receiving from not only the fans, but her own family and has decided to go under the knife. Either way, it should be a huge surprise according to Kim. I guess only time can tell. Who will it be?

A Loveless Lohan

Samantha Ronson and Lindsay Lohan have recently split. Again. According to sources, Samantha is sick of the drama that Lindsay's life brings. I am sure I am not the only one that is totally and utterly confused by this entire relationship. I remember the days when Lindsay was an innocent little girl on Parent Trap starring the late Natasha Richardson. Now she is a complete train wreck and this relationship with Samantha Ronson only adds to the drama. What I find even more interesting is that Ronson's family cannot stand Lohan and hope that this recent split will be for good. The family went so far so to get a restraining order againt Lohan. Even though I feel like Lohan has brought a lot of celebrity status to Ronson, which has helped Ronson's career, it seems like Ronson is sick of the limelight and Lohan's strange antics, and wants to get back to her normal life. Can we blame her? Lindsay is a loose cannon that needs to be controlled. Her family life may not be the most supportive (Dad in jail, Mom obsessed with money and fame) but being in the spotlight may not be the best thing for Lohan at this point. Maybe she needs an intervention. Maybe Britney Spears can get her on the right track. Or maybe Lohan is lost in the world of fame forever. Either way, the latest split from Ronson may be for the better for both Ronson and Lohan. No more drama. Please.

Tears in Tinseltown

Natasha Richardson, the beloved wife of actor Liam Neeson, and daughter of the acting legend Vanessa Redgrave, died tragically on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 after a freak skiing accident. Richardson, a mother of two with Neeson, was a on a beginner's slope when she slipped and fell. She was not wearing a helmet. Autopsy results say that the actress suffered a brain hematoma. What shocks me the most about Richardson's death is not only how frightening it was seeing as the actress simply fell, but that Richardson was talking and joking about her fall. She was fuly aware that she had fallen and did not complain of headaches until an hour after her fall. I wonder if she knew what was happening or when she actually slipped into a coma. I also wonder if she was able to talk to Liam or her sons before she was in her coma. I am deeply saddened by her death and feel a lot of sympathy for Neeson and their two young children. I can not imagine losing a close family member over something that could have easily been prevented if she had been wearing a helmet or if she had been rushed to the hospital right away. It is tragic events like these that illustrate just how short life can be. You never know when your time is up. We should all live each day like its our last.

40 and Single: True Hollywood Story of Jennifer Aniston

After a public break-up with Brad Pitt, I have been rooting for Jennifer Aniston to find true love once again. While she has gone through several relationships since Brad Pitt, remember Vince Vaughn, it seems as though Miss Aniston may have found romance in a man that loves to swoon women from all over the world with his own love songs; John Mayer. While the couple has had their problems and break-ups and make-ups, after seeing the two together at the Oscars and hearing rumors that Jennifer had plans to have John Mayer's children, I thought for sure Jen and John would pursue marriage. I thought wrong. After a year of on and off again dating, Jen and John have called it quits...again. They had some disagreements and decided not to see each other anymore. Wasn't she planning to have his children a month ago and now they disagree and refuse to see each other? It seems like Hollywood has missed the memo on what it means to be in love with someone. Despite differences, if you love someone, you will try your best fo fix it. There are always going to be problems in relationships but I believe that it is the problems and arguments that couples have that make the relationship stronger. Perhaps 31 year old John Mayer is not ready to committ. Who is at their 30s these days anyway? Is there a new George Clooney on the horizon? Either way, the world can all agree that Jen needs to find a man that will treat her with the utmost respect and that will stand by her side, no matter what. Maybe Jen should follow her own movie advice. John is just not that into you. Find someone else.

Screech, Zach, Slater, Kelly, Jessie, and Lisa: Where are they Now?

So what ever happened to the beloved cast of Saved by the Bell? Is Zach Morris still the Tom Crusie hunk? Is A.C. Slater still a macho pig? Did Screech ever make it with fashion guro Lisa Powers? Did Kelly Kapowski break any more boys' hearts? Did Jessie ever go to Stanford?

These are all questions that so many Saved by the Bell fans wonder. The American Teen Drama originally aired between 1989 and 1993 but many of its fans still can catch a glimpse of their favorite show on TBS in the wee hours of the morning. The show became a popular part of culture and society as many references were made pertaining to the show. For instance, cell phones in the early 90s were referred to as “Zach Morris phones.” There have been several more references to the show in other pop culture shows and movies, such as the 2008 movie, Superbad, in which Jonah Hill is talking about the girl that he likes and mentions that one of her ex-boyfriends looked like Zach Morris. The question is however, where is the cast now?

Zach Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) After “Saved by the Bell,” no one seemed more poised for stardom than Zack Morris himself, Mark-Paul Gosselaar. But for Gosselaar, stardom proved harder to come by than his well-known popularity at Bayside High. Since Saved by the Bell, Gosselaar has appeared on shows like “NYPD Blue”, “Commander in Chief”, and “John from Cincinnati.” He has an upcoming gig on TNT’s new legal drama, “Raising the Bar.”

Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani-Amber Thiessen) Thiessen had a rather successful career after the last bell rung at Bayside. She joined the cast of “90210”, even dating one of its stars, Brian Austin Green. She made appearances on a few cancelled shows, including “What About Brian.”

Samuel “Screech” Powers (Dustin Diamond) Screech has been very known on the pop culture radar. His most recent stint was on the “Celebrity Fit Club.” It seems like Screech will always be popping around in the pop culture scene.

Lisa Turtle (Lark Voorhies) Voorhies ended her fashion career at the doors of Bayside and went on to appear in daytime soaps. She has not made many television appearances, but will be starring in an upcoming flick, “The Next Hit.” She also has plans to release her new single, “Saturday” in 2009

Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkley) As we all know, Berkley tried to shed her good girl high school image that was often portrayed at Bayside by shedding her clothes with a role in the movie flop, “Showgirls.” She disappeared for about a decade, although made some appearances in movies, such as “The First Wive’s Club.” She is now hosting Bravo’s first season of “Step Up and Dance” in which she advises wayward schoolgirls.

A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez) After appearing on “Dancing with the Stars” it seems as though Lopez was able to re-launch his career. He is now a host on MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew” and has been noted as People’s Hottest Bachelors.

Even though they are all grown up, the cast of Saved by the Bell will continue to be on the minds of the kids that grew up with the gang and had dreams of attending Bayside High.

Is Chris Brown the new Bobby Brown?

Chris Brown, the famous 19 year old R&B singer, who girls frequently swoon over, was arrested this past Sunday regarding a felony battery investigation. Brown apparently turned himself into police around 7 p.m. Sunday evening. Although he posted $50,000 bail and was released, Brown was accused of making criminal threats to his "sweetheart" Rihanna, his girlfriend since the end of 2007. The couple has not been too shy in showing their public display of affection towards one another. There are plenty of pictures that show the two cuddling, hugging, and kissing. So why would Brown do this? Has his popularity and male ego gotten the best of him? Is the limelight just too much for a 19 year old? In the past, we have seen how young celebrities get caught up with the fantasy world of being a celebrity. Money, drugs, sex, violence. It all exists in the real world too. But for some reason, the youngsters that become pop icons at an early age get mixed up with these things. Take for example, our hero and Olympian, Michael Phelps, 23, who was recently caught smoking marijuana, or what seems to be marijuana. While it is fair to say that many kids Phelps' age are smoking marijuana and doing other illegal things, shouldn't Phelps be aware that a million kids look up to him and view him as a role model? I do feel badly for Phelps but sometimes you have to wonder what he was thinking. As for Chris Brown, another pop icon, it is pretty obvious that he was completely out of his mind when he threatened Rihanna, a pop icon herself. Will their fairy-tale romance end or will the pop princess pretend like this never happened? One thing is for sure. We will all know in a few weeks.
